A Message From Interim Pastor Lori Eickmann

I was ordained in January 2010, at which time I had begun serving my third interim congregation. My MDiv is from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (2005), and I earned a BA in journalism at San Jose State University (1981). My reporting career spanned three years at the Argus in Fremont and 13 years at the San Jose Mercury News. Then I felt the Holy Spirit urging me to seminary through my growing interest in and connection to inclusive images of God, who is more than we can ever imagine - and, frankly, we can imagine a lot!

I grew up in several states in the Midwest and Western U.S. and have lived and worked in numerous cities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. In my free time I enjoy traveling, reading, movies and sharing good food and wine with friends and family.

My husband, Stephen E. Wright, and I have lived in Dublin for 30 years. Steve, a retired Mercury News editorial page editor, is now Director of Candidacy for the Sierra Pacific Synod and a member of street outreach for Open Heart Kitchen, which serves meals to unhoused people. Our son, Dylan, works in Information Operations for the U.S. Army; our daughter, Cierra, is a television production coordinator.

St. Luke is the 10th congregation I have served as an intentional interim pastor in the Sierra Pacific Synod over the last 14 years. It is a blessing and a privilege to serve congregations in transition, mentoring them through a time of self-reflection during the months of interim ministry while we also engage in worship and Christ's mission. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I bring to this work my sense of call and particular gifts for transitional ministry, as well as the communication skills honed through my previous career as a journalist. It is always exciting to wonder with each new congregation: What is God already up to that we are being called into?

For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Peace and blessings,
Interim Pastor Lori
